Jumbled up screen
This is what happens if the wiring of the signal cable does not fit the data flow settings in the Scaler (Novastar). See Section Data Flow in this article.
Some of the panels are black
Follow the signal cable and check if all panels after a specific point are non-working. If that is the case, double-check the connections between the last working and the first non-working panels. Most probably, the signal data flow is interrupted there.
Try the following options to troubleshoot, after each step check if the panels are working again:
- Unplug the data cable and plug it back in.
- Exchange the data cable with one of the other ones.
- Remove the piggyback electronics and ensure that all connectors inside are installed properly.

One or some panels are brighter or darker than the others
On the NovaStar, adjust the brightness once so that the new value gets transferred again to all panels. If that does not help, reconfigure the panels using the NovaLCT software.
Black Box in front of the normal screen
The black box is the Picture-in-Picture mode on the Novastar, disable it in the Novastar menu.
